History of intercity buses in Turkey dates back to 1927. In 1928, the Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i Bus Company started to operate between Taksim-Sar\u0131yer and Yenimahalle. Istanbul Municipality brought four Renault-Sc\u00e9mia brand buses in 1931. Further, IETT was founded in 1939. In 1943, Swedish vabis, German Mercedes-Benz, B\u00fcssingler, British Leyland brand buses were introduced. Trolleybuses entered service in 1961. By the end of the 1970s, Hungarian-made Ikarus brand buses were on the roads. Domestic buses started to be used in Ankara in 1978 and in Istanbul in 1979.<\/p>\n

Kamil Ko\u00e7 is the first intercity bus company established in Turkey and the first intercity transportation company. It bears the name of its founder Kamil Ko\u00e7.<\/p>\n
After receiving his driver’s license in 1926, Kamil Ko\u00e7 turned his car into a mini bus by his own efforts. Further, Kamil Ko\u00e7, who started the first voyages between Bursa and Karak\u00f6y with his car surrounded by wooden awnings, continues to pursue his voyages on the same route by increasing the number of vehicles and drivers in 1927. Also, in 1927, Renault brand Scemia model wooden-cased and long-nosed buses come to Turkey for urban transport.<\/p>\n
Thanks to Kamil Ko\u00e7’s efforts, the intercity transportation system in Turkey begins to develop decisively. Kamil Ko\u00e7, made voyages to Bursa and Ankara with local body Chevrolet buses in 1933. He bought 4 big Mercedes buses to travel between Bursa and Istanbul in 1949.<\/p>\n

Kamil Ko\u00e7, known as\u201d Turkey’s First Bus Company”, used Chevrolet buses, Dodge overland and Mercedes, brands of buses. The interior designs of these buses, although not as comfortable as today, displayed an impressive image with their nostalgic beauty. In addition, nostalgic buses, which filled the eyes with large windows, classic maroon-colored blinds and old-style ventilation systems, gave passengers the comfort they were looking for with their seats covered in fabric or genuine leather and with metal skeletons.<\/p>\n
By 1962, the Kamil Ko\u00e7 buses continued to improve passenger comfort with the Magirus Deutz series buses. Also, they are one of the most durable and safe buses in the world. Kamil Ko\u00e7, which makes the concept of intercity bus travel enjoyable, continues to serve with the best buses today with the same service policy.<\/p>\n
