Akürün was found by Aykut Gökşin, in 1983.In 1985, Akürün became o shareholders-structure. Since 1988, it operates as an incorporated company. The president comes from textile labour in the family economy. Woven fabric manufacturing started in 1985, and with the new technological investments moved to the current structure in 1989, the yarn dyeing facility established in 2003. At the end of the 1990s, apparel production carried out, and a high-mounted production was made for Calvin Klein. Akürün has participated in TexWorld Paris for 25 seasons.

The multi-partner structure indicates a sharing understanding. There are unique styles in dealing with the employee. At the end of the 1990s, a campaign was organized in cooperation with the media to combat child labour in Denizli.
