About the Company

Alkim is a chemical products manufacturer company in Turkey. They established Kora Chemicals Private Company in 1948 and established Alkali Minerals Ltd. in 1957. The firm has developed over the years thanks to its concessions (operating licenses) on Lake Acigol, Lake Tersakan, and Lake Bolluk. 1963 Essex Interore Inc. of the United States and Alkali Minerals Ltd. of Turkey formed Alkim Alkali Chemicals Inc. to run Sodium Sulphate activities in Turkey. The unique government resolution dated 08.05.1963, numbered 6 / 1728 allows the creation of Alkim, due to the legislation and regulations in place in Turkey at the time (the 1960s). The Kora Family bought all of the shares and became the sole owner in 1971.

Historically

The IPO took place in 2000, and Alkim became a publicly listed corporation on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.  They put the Capital Stock System into action. Their company's Paid-in Capital is 150.000.000 TL. The operation of mining regions, the manufacture and sale of chemical products, and exports and imports are all part of the activities. Additionally, they make their products at an integrated facility in Izmir called Kemalpasa, an annual capacity of 80.000 tons. Alkim Chemicals owns 80% of Alkim Paper, while the remaining 20% is publicly listed on the IMKB (Istanbul Stock Exchange). Consequently, the employment here consists of 517 people in total. Thus, there are 55 people in the Administrative Staff and 462 in the Workers. Also, 25 - 50 seasonal workers are employed in the lakes for salt harvesting from the ponds.

Environmental Procedures

For all of them, environmental protection is a shared obligation. In this sense, Alkim, as a manufacturer of "natural sodium sulfate, natural salts, and natural fertilizer," is operating in full harmony with nature. Their functioning in natural lakes is completely ecologically benign; so there are no hazardous waste disposals. Alkim has earned Turkey's "Best Environment Protection Award" for the whole western area. The most common environment for flamingo colonies is their natural lakes.
