Seed Producer in Turkiye - Genesis

Genesis is an agricultural seed producer in Turkiye. In 2011, it started agricultural R&D activities by establishing trials to measure the rural values of wheat lines procured from abroad. Then, in 2012, the company launched a crossbreeding breeding program with large parent populations in bread and durum wheat.

Development History

In the summer of 2013, second-crop corn and soybean trials were established to measure agricultural values, and red lentil and chickpea trials were launched in the fall semester. Winter wheat trials and observation gardens were found in the same period, and new hybrid combinations were created.

While these were continuing, it started to develop two-row and six-row forage barley varieties in 2017. It also started selection breeding activities in advanced lines due to protocols made with international research institutes and international variety development programs.

In 2019, it started a breeding program for green lentils and soybeans. It made registration applications for one red lentil line and obtained production permits. The same year, the company started a mutation breeding program on wheat genotypes under laboratory conditions. Within the scope of the Lentil and Chickpea breeding program, it has set up trials at the Ukraine R&D Station.

In 2020, it increased its capacity with additional investments. In addition to its facility with a closed area of 4200 m2, it commissioned a new 2000 m2 seed processing and packaging facility. Here, the pulses seed sieving area is separated from the grain area, providing a higher quality production environment with two separate processes. The company, which has a closed area of 6200 m2 on an area of 17500 m2, has reached an annual storage capacity of 8000 tons and a seed processing capacity of 35.000 tons.
