Çaykur is a tea manufacturer in Turkey. Tea cultivation in Turkey dates back to 1917. Tea cultivation was supported and encouraged in the first years to promote the economic and social development of the Black Sea region people located in the north of the country and to eliminate the social problems arising in this regard by minimizing migration traffic. In 1938, the first tea leaf harvest and dry tea were produced. The first tea factory was opened in Fener District in Rize in 1947. The increase in the tea farming areas and the production of fresh tea leaves necessitated the increasing number of tea processing factories. The number of wet tea processing factories established in 1973 reached 32 and 45 in 1985.

                Çaykur is an Economic State institution established in Rize in 1984. It has 46 Fresh Tea Factories, 1 Tea Packaging Factory, 1 Marketing and Production Regional Directorate, 8 Marketing Regional Directorates, and 12,541 employees.  At the same time, it is the largest tea producing company in Turkey with an average daily tea processing capacity of 9,095 tons. Çaykur is also developing tea agriculture following Turkey's agricultural policy.  It does this based on the principles of economic necessity, profitability and efficiency. Thus, it provides a source of investment in capital accumulation and gets the most benefit in free-market conditions. At the same time, it is engaged in all kinds of activities such as producing, marketing and exporting all types of tea products with the supply of raw materials. It evaluates the by-products formed at the end of production activities; It produces excipients, produces and markets herbal teas, cold tea, caffeine-related products of the sub-sectors.
