What’s the difference between spa and Jacuzzi?
The answer is quite simple: Jacuzzi is a registered trademark and is also the name of the inventor of the first spa, the Italian Roy Jacuzzi. Sometimes the brand of the new product becomes the name of the product category in everyone’s mind.
The little story…
It is a basin allowing one or more people to enjoy a hot and bubbling bath together. For your information, the history of the Jacuzzi dates back to 1945, when the Italian Candido Jacuzzi invented the first hydraulic pump that could be used in a bathtub. This installation is the origin of the hydromassage system.
The device was later adopted and used by the Jacuzzi family, in particular, to treat the problems of osteoarthritis, Candido Jacuzzi’s son was suffering, through massage with water jets. The hydraulic pump system installed in a bathtub later became very popular in the sports and medical world.
In 1968 that Roy Jacuzzi, the grandson of Candido Jacuzzi, created the first whirlpool bath with a variant of this system, but without an external pump. The first “spa” capable of accommodating several people at the same time was not on the market until 1970.
